The Event and The Process

By Dave Hess

Everyone likes a quality event! There are people all around, there is exctement in the air and music. Events can do much, but we need the process (which is often not nearly as exciting) just as much.

Dr. Tim Elmore and his organization Growing Leaders do a great job of explaining the roles of the Event and the Process.

Events

  • Encourage decisions
  • Motivate people
  • Are a calendar issue
  • Usually about a big group
  • Challenge Students
  • Become a catalyst
  • Easy

Processes

  • Encourage development
  • Matures People
  • Is a consistency issue
  • Usually about a small group
  • Changes students
  • Becomes a culture
  • Difficult

Growing Leaders has put together a short and funny video contrasting the Event and the Process which is well worth watching. Check it out, and embrace both!

Don’t just settle for a great event every now and then. Events alone won’t lead to lasting change in your life.
