FSU “Go Week”

August 4th, 2011

Each August thousands of students start their college experience. This is a huge transition for all of these young people, many moving away from home for the first time! I have always seen this transition as an important time of outreach to students, and we at ENCM have for many years attempted to create relationships  with new students by serving them in meaningful ways.

However, this year I am even more excited about this season than usual. I am excited that this year not only are we going to be working to serve students, but at FSU we are going to be doing it in a way that is more unified with the greater community of believers, than ever before. We are teaming up with ten other college student ministries (some campus ministries and some church-based college groups) to serve the campus in concert, together. This has been aptly called “a mission trip to campus”, by  Michael Mears of CCF, whose leadership and and ministry team have been instrumental in bringing the ministries together for this important outreach.

We are currently expecting over 200 students from the various ministries represented to serve in this important week prior to the first week of Fall semester classes, August 23-26.

Together, we are trusting God that as we do this that he will allow us to connect with students in a way that will lead to meaningful long-term relationships. I can hardly wait to see all that God will do through this time! I truly believe it will be powerful!

Please be praying for this special week of outreach, for the new students we will meet, and for the hearts of the students who will participate. May we never neglect to think of the university campus as a mission field, and live in a way that reaches the students who reside there during some of the most spiritually formative years of their lives.

BreakThru40

January 12th, 2010

All across the U.S. ENCM members and leaders will be spending the next forty days in prayer and fasting (January 11-February 19th).

We need God to bring spiritual revival to our own hearts and transformation to our campuses! We can never do it by merely our planning, organizing, strategizing and creativity. Without a work of God’s Spirit, it simply won’t happen!

I want to invite you to join in praying and seeking God with us. Even if you have never fasted before, do SOMETHING in faith. (Ideas: You could fast one meal a week, one day a week, or even fast something other than food, such as T.V.)

Each day of the week we will be focusing on a different prayer point:

Mondays: Desperation

Tuesdays: Compassion

Wednesdays: Evangelism

Thursdays: Family & Ministry Partners

Fridays: Campuses & Youth

Saturdays: Leaders

Sundays: Miracles

If you are on Facebook you can visit the Fan page to interact with others participating. Comment and let others know what God is doing in you during this time!

Let’s cry out to God together for breakthrough…He’s listening! 1 John 5:14-15

Testify: Spring Break ’09

March 15th, 2009

In my last several posts I gave some words of challenge and encouragement for you students on college spring break.

Now, it’s time for you to testify!

  • What evidences did you see of God working in you and in those around you during Spring Break?
  • In what ways were you challenged to persevere? How did you fight temptation?
  • Were you able to maintain your habit of daily prayer and Bible reading?
  • Do you have any cool stories about what God did?

I can’t wait to hear all about it!

This is supposed to be an interactive blog, so don’t hesitate to share your story; your testimony is powerful! (See Rev. 12:11)
