Great thoughts, Dave! At first, after reading your post, I thought, "But what about the people that ARE in the same race as we are?" But then I remembered that the greatest among us must be the servant of all. When you compare based on the humility scale, you lose every time. :)

Wow Dave, great perspective! A lot of time in my own life I find myself doing that very thing. Being in college, often times my parent pressures me into thinking about a different career path - that might be more secure monetarily - by comparing me to my own friends and peers who are going off and becoming very successful in life. I really believe this contradicts the will of God for my own life, because I feel God has called me to a life in ministry. Honestly, I do think of this choice a lot. Although all I want for my life is a full time life in God's service, I often find myself comparing my life to my friends who are becoming successful in their careers. In times like these, I often lean on Psalms 37:4, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." My delight is in God's service. That is where my true desires are, and ultimately where they will be fulfilled.

Dave, I appreciate your ability to find wisdom in every area of your life, being able to draw such a good analogy from this experience. This was an encouragement this morning. Thanks so much.
